Autoklose can connect and send email from any email account provided as long as you have at least SMTP access enabled (which most accounts do). In order to allow Autoklose to connect to your account, please follow the steps:
Log into Autoklose with your account
Click on Your Name at the top right and click on Settings
Click on the Email tab
Click on the Connect email account button
Click on Connect Another Email
Fill out your E-mail address (or username) and password for your email account.
If you have two-factor (or multifactor) authentication you need to enter 16 digit app password instead of your email account password.
This Gmail knowledge base Article shows how to create an app password inside Google services.
Microsoft article shows how to create an app password for Microsoft (Office) 365.
For other email providers, please consult their support teams, browse the knowledge base or get in touch with Autoklose support.
In case you wish to establish only SMTP connection, do not expand and fill out Incoming Mail Settings (IMAP). IMAP is optional but highly recommended for full Autoklose functionality (reply, bounce recognition, and more). It is used for Inbox access, and in case you wish only to send emails without any activity tracking, it can be left blank.
You will need to provide SMTP settings for your account. There are three pieces of information that are required:
- Server: usually in the form smtp.yourdomain.com
- Encryption: usually SSL or TLS. Your server may not support encryption, this is perfectly fine, just chose None.
- Port: default SMTP port is 465 but your server may use a specific port.
Click Save to connect or Cancel to discard changes. Please note that it will take up to 3 minutes to connect to your account. If there are any errors they will be clearly displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Important note: In case only SMTP is connected, Autoklose will not be able to read and register any recipient activity that relies on IMAP access. Most importantly, reply and bounce tracking will not work. Reply tracking in all Active, Paused, and Finished campaigns will be turned off, and Automated Actions and Decision tree conditions that require reply activity tracking will be removed. This will affect some of the major Autoklose functionalities like Removing the recipient from the campaign after the reply, Adding to the Do-Not-Email list in case of bounce, or OPT-OUT requests via reply.
In case SMTP is connected by accident, the email account should be reconnected with IMAP access (expand the IMAP section on the Another provider option). Additionally, please check and if necessary enable reply activity tracking in campaigns, and desired actions that rely on it. This will not be automatically done by Autoklose even after IMAP access is provided. This article provides instructions on how to change campaign settings and enable Reply Tracking.
